As you may or may not know, Catherine was my Rose's midwife when it was time for Puck to come into the world. For that, I'll always be grateful to her, even aside from the fact she was a wonderful woman.

The Death Eaters are Auror jurisdiction, but there's nothing preventing me from making sure a few extra patrols happen by your homes on a regular basis. I can't take no for an answer, we'll just say it's for my peace of mind.

I'm writing this to you separately as between men, I hope you can look at this logically and understand where I'm coming from. The threats broadcast by the Death Eaters specifically stated they took Catherine because she practises Healing magic on witches and wizards. It wouldn't be a huge leap to think they may target you next. I'm going to try and pull a few strings with the Auror department to make sure someone is keeping an eye on you at all times, if they haven't offered already - I'm certain they've come to the same conclusion.

Three Aurors had to use deadly force in the middle of the Ministry against one kid? Ketteridge and Longbottom are cool in the field, must've been Bramble.

Makes me wonder if Aurors have to go through the whole "you just killed someone, we need to make sure it doesn't negatively effect your ability to return to the job" psych evaluation that Hitwizards do. I mean, they're 100 times more likely to experience that on the job than we are. If so, that's a cushy job for a trained mind healer. Lots of job security.

While I appreciate the show of support from these people in the Order, this whole announcement started off preaching on the values of those with muggle heritage (which I can get behind) and ended with some kind of recruitment and justification speech. While I can't claim to speak on behalf of the entire Ministry, let me at least say this:

They're vigilantes. While they may think their heart is in the right place, they're putting themselves and others in danger. You may say that we're already all in danger, and that's true, but just because you've fallen from your broom, it doesn't mean you should grab hold of a boulder. I've got to work on this metaphor business

As they specifically mentioned, they don't have the right training for this. I simply can't condone vigilante behaviour - the law belongs to everyone, but it should only be enforced by those who have undergone both the physical and mental training necessary. That's not even mentioning the authority to do so.

With the end of sensitivity training, the Ministry gifted me with a four hour lesson on reducing discrimination of blood status within my department. With the rising tensions between Pureblooded witches and wizards and halfblooded or muggleborn witches and wizards, it was deemed a necessity that we report potential situations and work on coaching and mentoring our subordinates.

So, be nice to each other or I'll dock your pay. Because I'd rather do that than take you off the job and make you sit through a class doing trust falls.

While I'll agree with every single one of you that our office wouldn't even function without teamwork, it's still something we all need to sit through just to do our part and support the upper echelons. It's the first Monday of March and I'm still wondering what happened to January.

Do you ever find yourself sitting back and honestly trying to turn reminders into a mantra that it'll all be worth it when all is said and done? It feels like we're constantly playing pick-up, following the Death Eaters and the Order around like those blokes with the shovels that chase after elephants on parade.

For the life of me, I still don't know if this brutal attack was because the Order keeps broadcasting their messages in response to the Death Eaters, or if it was to strike against the media, or if it was just to show they could do something like that without the DMLE even knowing. They had control for two hours before we even knew about it. Two hours those poor people were subjected to brutality, torture, and God knows what else.

It's days like yesterday that make you feel like a failure in spite of successes like what we handled in Dublin. It bothers me when our only solace is being able to say 'at least no one was killed.'

Gents, I haven't spoken about this too much with the other Chiefs over here in the Hitwizard office (or my Deputy Chief, honestly), but I wanted to chat with you three a bit about Sunday's events.

Specifically how well the Hits meshed with the Aurors on site, areas for improvement, what went well, what didn't. I think the major key to any successes we're going to have is in how well we work together. There's been enough arsing around, if you'll excuse the expression, between the Aurors and the Hits just due to jurisdiction and egos - and a certain extent is fine, of course, since it builds a level of camaraderie - but I'm currently at a loss as to what we can do to make it happen. I don't want to suggest adding Aurors to Hitwizard teams, or Hitwizards to Auror teams, just for the sake of saying we're working together and ready to respond to any kind of incident.

Any thoughts? I'm hoping to keep this completely informal, since, as said, I haven't discussed this with the higher ups in my own department yet. I just like to think I'm more forward thinking in some cases.

Scour the sites, find clues, look for anything that might help us track down the bastards that did this. Cooperate with Mungo's staff and back up the Aurors - but remember this is their turf and they're trained for it. Let's work together and not butt heads.

I'll head over to the WWN offices as well, but there'll be two Chiefs at each location. Report in to us if you find anything. Keep those wands warms, ladies and gents.

I've coordinated with the other Chief Investigators to pool our resources and you lot have been selected for duty since we don't know for certain what we're dealing with. Any of your collections of expertise may come in handy.

No word if it's Dark Magic, so Aurors will on site as well. Work with them, we're all on the same team. Keep bickering to a minimum. All I know so far is it's likely some kind of bomb, so be prepared to run crowd control or prep for evacuation. Be aware muggle media may be involved, so there will be some Obliviators joining the effort.
